Health Insurance Benefits
All new, full-time, regular employees of the District on probationary status will be provided with membership in an approved group health insurance plan at the earliest opportunity of inclusion. The first day of the month following the date in which enrollment forms are received by the Human Resources Coordinator.
For those full-time, regular employees of the District the total premium for the employee and their eligible dependents will be 100% paid by the District.
All new, full-time regular employees of the District will receive the Delta Dental Plan of California. Employees are eligible for this sixty days from the first day of the month following hire date. The District pays the total premium.
The District also volunteers in a Dental Co-Insurance Benefit plan. A maximum of $750.00 per calendar year per employee and eligible dependents. The District pays the total cost for the employee and their eligible family members.
The District, in compliance with the California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2012 (PEPRA), implemented the “new members” formula hired on or after January 1, 2013.
PERS 2.7% @ 55 plan for defined classic members, paid 100% by The District. “Classic member” means any employee who established CalPERS membership prior to January 1, 2013, whether while serving the District or serving another CalPERS employer.
PERS 2.0% @ 62 plan for defined new members. The District pays the required employer contribution on behalf of the employee based on the rate determined within the CalPERS Annual Actuarial Valuation of Plan Benefits and the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act
District employees also contribute to Social Security.
All employees are offered a District-paid life insurance policy of $50,000. Employees are eligible for this sixty days from the first day of the month following the hire date. The District pays the total premium for the employee.
Employee Assistance Program
All employees and eligible dependents are eligible sixty days from the first day of the month following hire date. This program provides confidential and professional assistance to each employee.
Deferred Compensation Program
Employees have the option of participating (voluntarily) in one of the two deferred compensation programs offered by the District (Nationwide Deferred Compensation or CalPERS 457). Maximum contributions are defined by law.
Employees are given ten (10) days of vacation after one (1) full year of District service, and fifteen (15) days after five (5) years of service with a max of twenty-five (25) days of vacation after twenty-four (24) years of service.
Full-Time, regular employees accrue 3.69 hours of sick leave for every 2 week period. Sick leave accrual is cumulative and may accrue indefinitely. Sick leave is available after 90 days from hire date in accordance to the Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act of 2014.
Personal Necessity Leave
An Employee may take up to 24 hours per fiscal year of accrued sick leave to allow for the management of personal business.
The District offices are closed for the observance of twelve holidays.
Regular full-time employees with a minimum of 6 months of service may receive reimbursement for eligible education expenses. Employees may be approved for reimbursement of tuition and eligible fees up to a maximum of $5,000.00 per fiscal year.
