Paul Hernandez was elected to the Valley County Water District (District) on November 5, 2013. Since his election, as a Board of Director, Paul has used his experience to ensure safe and affordable drinking water for our residents and businesses.

Paul was elected President of the Board of Directors by his colleagues in 2016 and has chaired the Finance Committee since he joined the board. He partners with his colleagues, promotes open government and transparency, and continues to explore new programs that benefit customers.

As a homeowner in Baldwin Park, Paul cares what happens in our community. He is a strong advocate for working families, seniors and youths. With over 15 years working in the highest levels of local government, he has had the opportunity to create jobs for over 10,000 youths, managed critical infrastructure projects and $500 million in federal grants that serve public safety agencies in the region.

Currently, Paul serves as Vice President as a for non-profit organization that engages the public, private and civic sectors on public safety challenges facing our region. Over the years, he has built a reputation of fostering strong working relationships and has a proven track record of demonstrating his ability to resolve large-scale issues.

Paul has held positions such as the Special Project Coordinator for the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles, Economic Development Deputy for Los Angeles Council District 14 and Associate Director of Homeland Security and Public Safety for former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa and current Mayor Eric Garcetti. Until March 2016, he served as Principal Project Coordinator with the Emergency Management Department for the City of Los Angeles.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Woodbury University and his Master of Leadership Degree from the University of Southern California – Fight On! 

Paul resides in Baldwin Park with his dog Sir Allen. Sir Allen was adopted from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter.
